Using colours in your art work - Part 2
Complimentary Colors
Are the colours which are directly opposite each other in the colour wheel.
These are Violet and Yellow, Blue and Orange and Red and Green.
Analogous Colours Are any three colors which are adjutant to each other on the color wheel,
such as Red-Orange, Orange, and Orange-Yellow.
Usually one of the three colors will dominate the painting.

The color wheel can also be divided into warm and cool colours. The neutral colors are colors which are not on the color wheel.
Warm Colours
Are colours like red, orange and yellow
They are called warm colours because they remind us of warm things like the sun, sunshine or fire.
Cool Colours
Are made of green, blue and violet colours
They are called cool because they remind us of cool things like a cool winter landscape or the sea.
Neutral and earth colours
Are hues not in the colour wheel.
Black, gray, whites are neutral. Browns and beiges are mainly earth colours but can also be neutral.
The neutral and earth colours can be made by mixing complementary hues or black & white.
