First, a thick layer of Acrylic Gesso was applied to a sheet of acrylic paper and allowed to dry.
Thick layers of Acrylic modeling paste was next applied to the paper
(using a large artist palette knife) and was then left to dry for a couple of hours.
Phthalo Blue and Titanium white acrylic paint was then mixed together on an artist palette
(to create a light blue colour) and painted over the modeling paste, covering the whole surface.
When the light blue layer of paint was dry, a wash of Phthalo Blue (not mixed with any other colour) was applied,
and the surface blotted with tissue paper to remove any excess paint.
Next, a light wash of Yellow Ochre acrylic paint was applied to create areas of highlights,
before a mix of Phthalo Green and Yellow Ocher were carefully blotted over mid-tone areas with tissue paper.
A piece of tissue paper was then dipped in thick Cadmiun Red paint and used in areas that required warm colours.
At last, ultramarine acrylic paint was painted on directly from the tube with a dry brush, creating thick brush marks textures.
Artist Notes:
As this texture formed part of a larger painting, the colours selected was for integration with existing design
and not necessary for mixing the different techniques.
(Any colour combination could have been used for creating textures and effects with texture gel, paint and brush marks.)
