Texture Gallery - Using Fabric

This texture was created with layers of Acrylic Gesso, Fabric cut is small squares, three different acrylic colours, and a sheet of acrylic paper.

Fabric

Detailed close-up

First, a thick layer of acrylic gesso was applied to a sheet of acrylic paper.

While the gesso was still wet, small pieces of fabric (cut in squares) was spread on top and lightly pressed into the gesso.

When the gesso was dry, several layers of more gesso mixed with plenty of water were applied on top of the fabric and left to dry. (drying time depending on room temperature)

A thick layer of Phtaloe Green acrylic paint was then applied, covering the whole surface.
When the green paint was dry, a wash of Yellow Ochre was applied over the texture and left to dry.

At last, some Cadmium Red was applied with a dry brush, just touching the "top" of the texture.

Artist Notes:
Modeling paste or thick paint could have been used instead of gesso

The paint need to be dry before the next layer can be applied!

Different types and qualities of fabric will make a variation of texture.
