Texture Gallery - Using Bubble Wrap

This texture was created with a layer of Acrylic Modeling Paste, Bubble wrap (normally used for packaging), three different acrylic colours, and a sheet of acrylic paper.

Bubblewrap

Detailed close-up

First, a thick layer of acrylic modeling paste was applied to a sheet of acrylic paper with a painting/palette knife.

While the modeling paste was still wet, a sheet of bubble wrap was laid on top and lightly pressed into the paste to create an imprint.

When the modeling paste was semi-dry, the bubble wrap was removed and the modeling paste was left to dry for an hour. (time depending on room temperature)

A layer of Phthalo Green acrylics was then painted over the texture, covering the whole surface and left to dry for a couple of minutes.
Next, a light wash of Leaf Green mixed with Titanium White paint was applied over the green colour.

At last Yellow Ochre was applied with a dry brush, just touching the "top" of the texture.

Artist Notes:
A piece of cardboard can be used to push the bubble wrap deeper into the modeling paste for creating a better imprint.

The bubble wrap should be removed before the modeling paste has dried completely, as it might be difficult to remove once dry.

No acrylic gesso was used for preparation when creating this texture, but can be applied before the modeling paste if desired.
