Gouache is a heavy, quick drying and opaque watercolour paint.

Gouache is water soluble so brushes and palette can be cleaned with water.

The paint is available in a large selection of opaque matte colors and can be bought in either tubes or bottles.

Gouache can be applied to most surfaces, but is usually applied to either white or tinted watercolour paper. Some artists also use coloured pastel paper, mount board or cardboard paper.
