Artist Business: Writing the artist statement
The artist's statement is a brief introduction written by the artist to accompany a piece of art or to describe a body of work.
It is usually placed at the beginning of a portfolio and is an important
selling tool for promoting and explaining your work to people looking at your art work.
This might be galleries, potential buyers, curators, art critics, fellow artists, or casual browsers and visitors.
The artists' statement may vary in length, but should not be any longer than one page.

Things you could include:
1. A brief explanation of your painting style.
2. Any subjects or themes you have approached.
3. A discussion of the technical side of creating the work or the materials and mediums you have used.
4. Method used for creating the work.
5. Important influences, other artists or writers.
6. Use of colours and the qualities of the colours.
7. Why you enjoy making art.
8. How your work differs from other artists.
9. What inspires you to create art.
10. Your goals as an artist.
11. Any subject matter.
12. Your own personal background or perspective.
