The Artist Studio: Open Studio Exhibition

An Open Studio Exhibition is an event where artists open their studios to the public and turn their spaces into small galleries where they exhibit their work.

These shows are normally held over a weekend or week (with a one night preview), and if marketed properly, is a great opportunity for artists to show their new work to the public.

Artists who are not part of an artist studio/community do not have the advantage of showing their work together with such a large group of artists, but can sometimes arrange their own Open Studio Show and invite people around to view their new work.

For the beginning artist, the open studio shows can be quite a daunting experience due to the large number of visitors that often show up and are entering the studio/working space.

Below are some key points for turning the Open Studios into a successful event and also increase the chances for selling your work and attract new interest for future exhibitions.
