Texture Mediums: Gel Mediums

Acrylic Gel medium can be used for a variety of applications and techniques.

Some gels can be mixed with colours to increase transparency and depth, while others are used by artists to thicken paint for impasto work, as glue in collages, or for extending paint over large areas.

Acrylic gels can be diluted with water, mixed with acrylic paint, ink and other mediums to create volume and originality to the painting.

You can use a gel medium if you wish to create thicker and heavier texture effects and some gels are also ideal for glazing and other techniques that require transparency.

Gel Mediums are also used for maintaining or increasing the body and texture of the paint.

The Gels are water proof when dry and can be applied with either brush or painting knife to most clean and non-greasy surfaces.
